PRE-SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM

This is an intensive 1-week orientation program for incoming instructors to help them survive both in the department and in the classroom until the in-service teacher training program starts. It is offered in September immediately before new recruits start teaching in MLD.

 

IN-SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM

This is ayear-long certificate program to be undertaken during the first year of teaching at MLD. It is offered to all newly hired instructors. Successful completion of this program terminates their probation period.

Components

-           Input sessions and microteaching: twice a week

-           Teaching Practice: three observations per semester

-           Peer Observations: three observations per semester

-           Written Assignments: one each semester

-           Professional Development Presentation: one at the end of the program

 

IN-SERVICE SESSIONS

These sessions are offered regularly to all instructorsin the department in order to address their common needs.  The content of these sessions are determined with a needs analysis study conducted by the teacher trainers. Depending on the focus, trainers, instructors or guest speakers deliver these sessions.
